AND OTHER NGOs
The situation in which children from Tororo live is alarming. That is why I have teamed up with different NGOs to find a solution.
CBR
Community Based Rehabilitation
NGO that works to improve the situation and, social inclusion and opportunities of people with disabilities. Thy also try to defeat the never-ending correlation between poverty and disabilities. CBR is implemented through the effort of disabled people, their families and communities, healthcare and there social services. They organize entities such as Benedictine Eye Hospital and they collaborate with Agururu Primary School, among others. The CBR head in Tororo is Juluis Paul Achibu, my contact with Tororo.
Benedictine eye hospital
It is an ophthalmology centre from Tororo that collaborates with the rehabilitation program of CBR. They treat epilepsy, the do checkups often to their patients and they teach their families how to take care of them, swell as embracing them. They also provide with orthopedic material for the poorest and they visit schools like l'Agururu Primary School.
Agururu Primary School
It is a primary school from Tororo that has teamed up with me to create the Ubuntu Chair. It receives help from CBR and Benedictine Eye Hospital. They have both disabled and normotypical students from 4 years old to teenagers. The disabled students stay at the boarding school. The most common disabilities between them are cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, visual impairment and others. In the school there are four teachers who speak sign language and teach it to all the kids, whether they're deaf or not. Agururu Primary School's students receive medical checkups and services often, as well as economical facilities from CBR.
